Born in Your Heart

You were “born in my heart,”
and it came with a cost of a very rough start.

I don’t get to go back and make things right,
It is my honor to help you gently move forward and to hold you tight.

Losses and grief that need sorted out,
I am here to help you, that is what true love is about.

You were placed in my heart long before I knew who you were.
It all seems surreal now, sort of like a beautiful blur.

The love He placed in my heart for you
was more than enough to help carry me through.

Times of confusion, waiting, working, sacrifices and uncertainties,
of my love for you that was clearly always meant to be.

I do not take the gift of you lightly,
you are a treasure entrusted to me by the Almighty!

I have spent much time on my knees praying for your peace and understanding,
as I have witnessed Him gently healing you from those things.

One by one I stand in awe,
as I watch the injustices fall…

My child so special and treasured by me,
I know in my heart…it was a love that was meant to be.

Some things we will simply never fully understand,
for those things we will just have to trust in His plan.

I am thankful to be a part of such a beautiful restoration,
He is masterful and never makes a mistake in His creation.

It is hard to believe that I could love you more than I did before,
love is like a treasure hunt and grows as we walk together through the next door.

Our story of how we became a family is a treasured gift from Him above,
He perfectly knitted us together out of love,

It was not from my womb that you were born,
It was from a special warm place that was empty and torn.

Now thankfully our love fills that part
and I am blessed that you understand how we got our start.
